What patients praise

What do patients say they liked?

Excerpts from Google reviews, shortened where marked with … Names are first name and last initial. Individual results vary.

“This is the most comprehensive clinic that I’ve found for concussion/tbi treatment in my 10 years post concussion... I don’t mince words, and I’m comfortable giving negative feedback.”

“I came here from the Netherlands with a family member, and the results of the two-week treatment look great! My family member was taken good care of, and as a caregiver, I was as well.”

“I have less brain fog and feel more clarity which was not the case when I initially went for treatment. I was extremely tired all the time.”

“The staff at Cognitive FX really care about your progress and want you to get better... I have already seen really great results from my 2 week epic.”

“This specialized two week Concussion Recovery training was intense with every day 8-5 Monday thru Friday... with rest periods also strategically placed daily.”

“Since treatment I have experienced a complete turnaround and am now able to work, think critically, communicate effectively, and have seen a reduction in anxiety.”

Critical reviews

What do critical reviews say, and how did we respond?

Not every patient improves, and not every experience goes well. Here are three concerns from our lower-rated reviews, each with an excerpt of the reply we posted on Google. Sort our Google reviews by lowest rating to read the rest.

“No symptom reduction”

James W., 1 star, 2025, Google review

“I am now at the 3 month mark after treatment and have had no symptom reduction... there has been little to no initiative on their end for follow-up calls.”

Our reply“Our standard process includes scheduled follow-ups at 2, 4, and 6 weeks to monitor progress, and we apologize if this did not meet expectations in your case.”

“Results took months”

James N., 4 stars, 2023, Google review

“My symptoms did not vanish immediately after 1 week like some people see... The first time I went I began to see improvements after about 4 months and was continually improving.”

Our reply“We deeply appreciate your point about it not being a perfect solution, and we absolutely agree.”

“My appointment was canceled over the deposit”

1 star, 2025, Google review

“They then canceled my appointment over a month out without warning because I hadn’t paid the deposit.”

Our reply“It is clear from your feedback that the communication regarding this timeline and the potential consequences of the deposit not being received was not adequate in your case.”

What should I ask before I book?

  • How likely the program is to help your specific symptoms, and what happens if it does not.
  • When the deposit is due and what happens if it is late.
  • What follow-up you get after the week, and who to call.

Your free consult is the place to ask all three.

Results

What results do patients report?

For outcomes across many patients, there is published research. An independent team from Amsterdam UMC and UMC Groningen followed Cognitive FX patients with post-concussion syndrome: 77% of the 52 patients measured at six months had meaningfully fewer symptoms. Our own published study of 270 patients (Wing et al., 2017) also found improvement in most patients. Both studies were observational, without a control group, and individual results vary.

Questions people ask before booking

Is Cognitive FX legit?

Cognitive FX is an outpatient clinic in Provo, Utah, that treats persistent symptoms after concussion and brain injury. It has a 4.8 average from 445 Google reviews as of October 19, 2026, and its treatment has been studied by an independent team from Amsterdam UMC and UMC Groningen. You can read every Google review, including the critical ones, on our Google profile.

Do you filter or hide reviews?

No. This page shows a selection, and it links to the full list on Google, where anyone can read all of our reviews, including 1-star reviews. We reply publicly to many critical reviews.

How much does Cognitive FX cost?

The consult is free. The fNCI functional MRI scan on its own is $1,500. One week of treatment is $13,000 all-in, and two weeks are $24,700. We accept CareCredit, HSA and FSA.

Does insurance cover Cognitive FX?

Cognitive FX is out-of-network and does not bill insurance directly. We provide the paperwork you need to submit to your plan yourself; reimbursement varies by plan and is not guaranteed.

What if treatment does not work for me?

Some patients do not improve. In the independent study, 77% of the 52 patients measured at six months had meaningfully fewer symptoms, so a minority did not. Your free consult is where our team tells you whether we expect the program to fit your case, and we tell people when it does not.

How soon do patients notice a difference?

It varies. Some patients notice changes during the treatment week. Others, as several reviewers describe, improve over the following months while they keep up the home program. Individual results vary.
